Thanksgiving Fun

Thanksgiving definitely warrants an #alexaswinediary! I’m guilty of still having some Halloween pumpkins around, so I decided to give one a second life as a wine cooler for festive table decor 😉 It’s so easy to do – just cut open the top of the pumpkin, scoop out the guts, and pour in some ice. Voila!

To test out the new cooler, I popped open a 2016 Fairvalley Chenin Blanc. It’s from Western Cape, South Africa.

It’s pale yellow in color and has a strong pear aroma. It had decent legs on the glass. I tasted notes of pear, apple, and melon. It had a buttery, Chardonnay quality to it. I’ve never had Chenin Blanc, so I didn’t know what to expect. It wasn’t bad, just not my cup of tea (or wine). It’s about $11 a bottle. I paired it with delicious pecan pie. 2/5.
