It may sound strange, but my husband has always wanted a pet duck. He imagines it frolicking in the backyard with our dog, bonding and being the best of pals. I imagine that whole scenario quite differently, and unfortunately, not as adorable. So when I saw this 2015 Decoy Cabernet Sauvignon, featuring a duck in the label, I just had to try it.
Decoy is part of the Duckhorn Wine Company, which was founded more than a quarter century ago. It’s from Napa Valley and hasĀ established a loyal following for its distinctive style, which emphasizes ready-upon-release wines that are capable of expressing their full charm and complexity in their youth.
The wine is deep burgundy in color and has long legs. Its aroma is deep and smells of dark berries and earthiness. It tastes of fruit and tannins with a lingering sweetness and spice. I bought it for under $25 at Publix. I enjoyed it for dinner after a tiring day at the pool. 3.5/5.
