New restaurants are always popping up in Miami—from the traditional to the bizarre—and I’m always happy to try them. My husband isn’t into trying anything new and trendy, but luckily my best friend is and is always my trusty date for these occasions. The latest restaurant to sweep Instagram is Malibu Farm, a bright and airy spot right on the beach at the Eden Roc.
The creation of California lover Helene Henderson, this restaurant is a blend fancy and chillness set with an amazing oceanfront backdrop. Their menu focuses on simple farm-to-table dining that is fresh, organic, and locally sourced whenever possible.
Since this is Alexa’s Wine Diary, I, of course, had a glass of Cloudy Bay’s Sauvignon Blanc. It was everything you could imagine in a typical New Zealand Sauvignon Blac—crisp, full of tropical fruit, citrus, and grassiness. What stole the show for me in the libations arena was their Jalapeno signature cocktail. When I’m not drinking wine I’m sipping on tequila, so I was a happy girl to say the least.
We paired the libations with a variety of dishes: Crab cakes (Bomb dot com), burrata fruit salad (light and refreshing), avocado pizza (a combo of jalapeno ricotta, agave, cilantro, and lime), a phenomenal shrimp plate (topped with a poached egg and mushrooms), and a grilled chocolate cake (extra nom).
With the picturesque setting, delicious food, and tasty drinks, Malibu Farm is definitely a must for a sunset dinner or boozy brunch.
