Bad & Boujee on my Aspen Vacation with Dom Perignon 2006

With summer coming to a close, I can’t help but think back on all of the great trips I’ve taken over the past couple of months. From the Bahamas to Las Vegas, I’ve made some great memories and drank great wine like—Dom Pérignon 2006 Brut Champagne.

Hiking through the mountains on my Aspen vacation

My favorite—hands down—was our recent vacation to Aspen, Colorado to celebrate a good friend’s 30th birthday. We stayed in a beautiful home overlooking the mountains with the best view of the sunset and valley below. Every day was a new adventure—from hiking a picturesque trail in the snow to a wine tasting challenge. It was an amazing getaway that took my boujee level from a 5 to a 10.

One night, during happy hour at the house, we indulged in a perfectly curated charcuterie platter—the stuff wino dreams are made of. Different types of hard and soft cheeses, a plethora of cured meats and great selection of olives—bon appétit! What really took it to the next level was sipping on a bottle of Vintage 2006 Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne‎.

Supposedly 2006 was climatically irregular and, taken as a whole, hot and dry, so the cellar-based ripening of the 2006 vintage was very slow. For a long time, the wine was largely dominated solely by the fruit’s ripeness. It was not until 2015 that the comprehensiveness and harmony of its first plénitude was finally revealed.

Bottle of Dom Pérignon 2006

I had never tasted Dom Pérignon 2006 before and it was certainly a treat. It’s light yellow in color and has a delightful amount of bubbles. The aroma has hints of citrus and the taste has a great complexity of citrus and fruit flavors. It has a great balance and finishes dry with a touch of sweetness. You would never guess that it was a 10-year-old bottle of champs.

It’s wonderful champagne for a special occasion—like being boujee in Aspen 😉 I looked online and was able to find Dom Pérignon 2006 at Costco for $133 (god, I love Costco). I definitely will be savoring this again. Perhaps on another celebratory adventure with friends and family. 5.5.
