Matua & Irma

With all this waiting and anxiety, I started cracking into my hurricane prep wine reserves 😶 This 2016 Matua Sauvignon Blanc was my first victim.

The winery began back in 1974, and produced New Zealand’s very first Sauvignon Blanc. If you know anything about my wine tastes, you’ll know that I can’t resist a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. They make it in Marlborough, which is world famous for its unique, fresh flavors. For this wine, they’ve chosen grapes from across Marlborough, giving tasters the best crisp and tropical flavors Marlborough has to offer.

It’s pale yellow in color and has a fresh, light aroma of citrus and floral. The citrus flavors follow through onto the palate with notes of passion fruit, kiwi, and mineral balance. It has good acidity and gently lingers on the palate. I paired it with Hurricane Irma anxiety. It’s sold at Publix for about $12 and I sometimes see coupons for it on Ibotta. Great value for a solid wine. 3.5/5.
